Mood disorders are conditions that cause people to feel intense, prolonged emotions that negatively affect their mental well-being, physical health, relationships and behaviour.
While we all have brief “highs” and “lows,” most people generally do not experience extreme, extended swings in our emotions. But for those with mood disorders, the internal sense of control over the ups and downs may be missing.
